Cabra Castle Wedding Photography | Suzanne & Ciarán
Suzanne & Ciarán's Wedding at Cabra Castle, Co. Cavan
I'm delighted to share a look back at Suzanne and Ciarán's wedding at Cabra Castle in County Cavan. Their family and friends made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and the whole day had the warmth, emotion and craic you hope for at a wedding.
A boiling hot day at the castle
It was a boiling hot day, and Cabra Castle looked brilliant in it. The red carpet went down at the front of the castle, the bridesmaids were in pink, and Suzanne and Ciarán were great fun from the start, which made photographing and filming their day a pleasure.
An emotional ceremony at Cabra Castle
The ceremony took place in The Granary, a custom-built space next to the castle that is beautifully lit. Soft light pours in through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, with greenery hanging overhead and the Cavan countryside outside, which makes it a joy to photograph a ceremony in.
Suzanne and Ciarán's ceremony was led by Enda Harte of Spiritual Ceremonies Ireland, a great celebrant who made it a really memorable moment for everyone there.
With their family and friends gathered around them, it was an emotional ceremony, full of the small, honest moments I try to catch as they happen. Once it was over, the celebrations really began.
The people made the day
What stood out most about Suzanne and Ciarán's wedding was the people. Their family and friends filled the day with warmth, with plenty of laughter and a few tears along the way, and it made for a day that was a joy to document.
Photographing Cabra Castle
Cabra Castle is a venue steeped in Irish history. The estate in Kingscourt has been home to some of Cavan's best known families, and the castle you see today dates from the early 1800s. You can feel that history in the old stone, the ivy-covered walls and the grand staircase, and it sits in extensive grounds with gardens, lawns and a terrace for drinks in the sun. There is also a brand new gold carriage at the front of the castle, unique to Cabra and made for photographs. Even on a boiling hot day it was a joy to photograph.
