Lacy & Nauris's Wedding at Darver Castle

I'm delighted to share a few moments from Lacy and Nauris's beautiful wedding at the stunning Darver Castle in County Louth. It was such a joy to capture their day, filled with laughter, surprises and plenty of fun.

From the moment we arrived, the whole day felt wonderfully relaxed. Lacy and Nauris were completely chilled out about it all, and that set the tone for everyone around them. It was a laid-back, easy-going wedding in a seriously beautiful setting, with no stress and no rush.

Getting ready at the castle

Lacy got ready on site in the bridal parlour, while Nauris got ready at the castle with his groomsman and his brother. There's something nice about photographing those quiet hours before a wedding, when the anticipation builds and the people closest to you are around you, before the day properly begins.

Flower men up the aisle

The ceremony took place at Darver Castle at 3pm, led by celebrant Edel O'Connor, and it came with a first for me: the flower men waltzing up the aisle ahead of the bride. It was hilarious and brilliant, and exactly the kind of touch that made this day so much fun. Once it was over, we got the family photographs done straight afterwards, so everyone could move on to the drinks and enjoy the rest of the day.

Wedding photography at Darver Castle

It's genuinely hard to take a bad photo at Darver Castle. The setting is stunning, and the gardens are full of places to stop: the rose garden, the pond outside, the renovated fountain and pond with its small waterfall, and even a swing. The locations are endless, whatever the plan for the day.

Inside, the banqueting hall has a beautiful medieval feel that gives a completely different mood to the outdoor photographs. Between the gardens and the castle itself, you get a real variety of backdrops without ever leaving the grounds.

One of the things I loved most about this wedding was the people. Family and friends came together as a vibrant, lively mix, and the atmosphere in the room showed it. The food was amazing, and the staff at Darver really make the venue what it is. They're brilliant, and it's always a pleasure working there.

Evening portraits, and surprise fireworks to finish

As the evening got going, we slipped away with Lacy and Nauris for some evening portraits around the grounds, a bit of quiet time and a completely different feel from the day. Then the party carried on long into the night with Gerry Magee on the decks, and then came one last surprise: fireworks to finish the night. It truly was a celebration to remember.
